Our annual
membership drive is underway and we are asking you to join and to give.
Thank you
for your support by attending our shows and bringing in new fans. This past
July, we were able to produce an artistically stunning and very entertaining Iolanthe
in large part due to the extra financial support of our membership; and now we are
asking you to join the Society with a generous donation that will help us accomplish a lot more this year.
The Seattle Gilbert & Sullivan
Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization performing the operatic
works of Gilbert and Sullivan in Seattle, WA. The Society was formed in 1954
and at 59 years old we are one of the oldest continuous amateur theater
companies in the Pacific Northwest. The Society occupies a unique musical and
artistic niche between grand opera and
musical theater and has produced each G&S show at least twice, some much
more frequently, and stands alone as the only source, perhaps in the world, of
broadcast-quality videos of all existing Gilbert & Sullivan operettas.
The Seattle Gilbert & Sullivan
Society mission is to produce the Gilbert & Sullivan canon of thirteen
operettas in its entirety at the highest artistic standard, at an affordable
price, and in the spirit of friendship and community. In addition our mission
is also to promote the study, production, appreciation and enjoyment of musical
compositions and plays, particularly those of Gilbert and Sullivan as well as develop
the skill sets of singers, musicians, and artistic support staff.
The Seattle Gilbert & Sullivan
Society is also a leading source of Gilbert & Sullivan artistic and
theatrical knowledge and support. We offer local and global production assistance
and technical support to other companies who wish to produce a Gilbert &
Sullivan operetta. We also have a superior rehearsal facility for rent to other
non-profit production companies at an affordable price for either public or
private showing.
