"If you want to know who we are..."

The Seattle Gilbert & Sullivan Society is an amateur group committed to performing the highest quality musical theater in the Pacific Northwest.  Founded in 1954, it is one of the oldest performing arts organizations in the Seattle area.

The mission of the Seattle Gilbert & Sullivan Society has remained unchanged since its founding:  Provide the highest quality Gilbert & Sullivan productions to a broad Pacific Northwest audience at an affordable price. Since 1982, the mission has included producing all thirteen Gilbert & Sullivan operettas in rotating order as finances permit.

The Society mounts one major production per year and runs it for three weeks in the Bagley Wright Theater at Seattle Center.  The Society consistently receives acclaim from the local media critics.  In 1996 the Society gained international acclaim when it was invited to perform at the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in Buxton, England and swept the music awards at that festival.  In 1999 it again enjoyed success at the Festival with a new production of The Grand Duke.
